THE ITALY COLLECTION

I’ve long been interested in the anything Italy related. I had the privilege of learning a bit about the language and culture in school, where I had to take Italian classes for a couple of years.

Years later, I was still fascinated.

Drawn in by the appeal of sun-filled summers, the romanticisation of every aspect of the culture: music, films, food and fashion; even their vehicles seemed to have their own character. The more I discovered, the more interesting it became. The multitude of varied experiences. You could witness glamorous expressions of living in richer, tourist-filled towns, and then also - and more enjoyably, witness ordinary people, who although were not intending on playing into the allure and romanticisation of Italy, still managed to capture just that, weaving magic into their normal daily lives. You don’t even have to be someone who sees magic in everything to see it in abundance there. I was fascinated by the different tales and expressions of life. Some I got to see and learn about up close, some I daydreamed about from afar, in passing. Being my first collection I hadn’t intended to make art from this trip, but as time passed, I felt a lot of the memories seeping into my creative mind waiting to be brought to life. So I present to you 4 special paintings, with love, feelings and special care put into them, that I hope can bring brightness to your home and reignite some special memories, wherever you found them.
